With our camp and first week of the regular season completed, we can see that we have good potential! However, we are a long way from becoming a competitive force. We lost to graduation 2 of our top 5 from our 2012 WPIAL AAA 5th place team. However, our squad has increased by 25% with a strong influx of enthusiastic newcomers in the 9th, 10th and 11th grade classes (6 new juniors have joined our ranks this summer), and our returning girls are clearly determined to improve on their 2012 seasons. We are performing at a somewhat higher level than was the 2012 team at this time last year, and it is fairly clear that we have more "upside" (room for improvement) this year. All it takes is total commitment and a ton of work as a team and as individuals!
Our first test is the California University of PA Marty Uher Invitational on August 31. It's run on the toughest (but still fair) 5k cross-country course we can find in Western Pennsylvania. We'll learn a lot about ourselves and our potential at this race!
